- Due to our Island culture, we have to eat black-eye peas in some form or fashion for prosperity
- Due to my step dad's Irish culture we have to have pork (which I'm not exactly sure why)
However I must say that nothing at all can take the cake for the new traditions we added to the list this year....My mom invited a Hispanic Family to our festivities and along with the fabulous chocolate cake they brought, they also bought some NYE Traditions.
- From toasting with Champagne AND 12 grapes that represent prosperity for the 12 months of the upcoming year
- Shaking money in a red container, that represents more wealth and prosperity
- Throwing water out the door and sweeping it.......at this point I was no longer paying attention, so I'm not sure what it meant
- Running around in circles with a suitcase...I think this is to bring travel opportunities into your life
Now my family has a strong faith base and we all believe that God is the ultimate decider of things unknown and unplanned and he already has 2011 written and published... So aside from the sheer fun of all these activities, I believe that it also allows us to truly participate with one another and LIVE, LOVE, and LAUGH together...
I cant wait on our next NYE celebration!!
